CLIO ANIMAL SHELTER
▶ THE PROBLEM
Clio Animal Shelter runs almost entirely on volunteers. Every week, staff manually coordinated dozens of shifts across cleaning, feeding, adoption events, and medical care.
The process: open a spreadsheet, manually assign people to shifts, send emails, chase confirmations, update the sheet when someone cancels, then start again the next week.
That was 5-8 hours every single week. Time that should have been spent with the animals.
▶ THE SOLUTION
We started by automating the most painful piece: shift assignments and email notifications. That alone recovered 3 hours a week in the first two weeks.
Then we went further. We built a full scheduling platform designed specifically around how the shelter actually operates.
Staff got a simple dashboard. Volunteers got a self-service portal to pick their own shifts. The spreadsheet was retired permanently.
▶ WHAT CHANGED
Volunteers sign themselves up. Staff approve with one click. No more email chains.
Volunteers get reminders before their shift. Cancellations are handled automatically.
The community can see upcoming events and volunteer opportunities without asking staff.
Every week. That time now goes to the animals, not the spreadsheet.
